The Junior Blazer

Monday, July 12th 2010 at 7:15pm, Blaise Castle

The Junior Blazer is a light-hearted event for boys and girls.  It comprises:

  • A 2k run (flat grassy course), then
  • Throwing the hockey ball

There are light refreshments provided while everyone gets a go at the throw!  The competition results are decided on a points basis, with younger competitors getting extra points for their age, so everyone competes on an equal basis!

The event takes place on Monday, July 12th from the Westbury Harriers Clubhouse at Blaise Castle (just next to the main car park and playground)

Entries are 50p on the night, from 6:15pm onwards (this counts as on-the-night subs for those who would normally be training, i.e. no extra).  The race starts at 7:15pm, but please arrive well before then to register!  It is held under UK Athletics Rules, subject to permit.  After the race you will get an opportunity to throw, and snacks will be available.

For further information phone Neil Miller on Bristol (0117) 9514097

This event was originally created in memory of the late Karl Andrews, who was a junior international hammer thrower (9th in the World Junior Championships), as well as a superb runner.
