The Welsh Castles Relay 2007 (9th-10th June 2007)

... see  The Welsh Castles Relay (page 2) for more photographs

In the phrenetic activity of the event it is easy to miss the spectacular views passed through.  Here are some that I managed to catch.

Above and right are views south from the A4086, just to the west of Capel Curig.

Approaching the junction with the A498, I believe that Snowdon is the peak on the left
This was the view as we arrived at our bunkhouse at Rhyd-Ddu (I think) on the Friday night
Saturday morning dawned fine and sunny as we emerged from the bunkhouse.
The great lumbering mound in the background is Snowdon
This is where it all starts - Caernarfon Castle, overlooking the Menai Straights

Skip to Sunday morning.  The shot in the left is taken halfway up the road to the Drovers Arms.  For the first part of the hill the road is bound by stone walls on either side, but here it opens onto the moors, and a chance to get some water to the athletes.

This photo was taken near the one above, looking over the side of the hill to the valley around Builth Wells
Caerphilly Castle, complete with moat
