The Welsh Castles Relay 2007 (9th-10th June 2007)
In front of Cardiff Castle at the end of our 210 mile journey
Another weekend of 'real-time' organisation as the rolling circus navigated the 210 mile 20-leg route that marks the Welsh Castles relay. Perhaps not our strongest team, but the participants certainly made their mark in the spirit of the event. We managed to resist John's offer to face-paint the whole team, and survived the long hot weekend - a rarity in the 'summer' of 2007.

Phil Court led us out on leg 1 from Caernarfon Castle to Penygroes
in 1:10:00 |

|
| Over the weekend, time sometimes disappears in a frantic scramble to reach the next rendezvous, at other times drags while waiting for the runners to appear. Luckily, the organisers provide balloons to keep the children entertained. | ||

Trish Robson just missed matching last year's 'Stage Winners' Sweatshirt
on leg 2, from Penygroes to Criccieth Castle, in 1:18:27 |
||
| Clive Attwood took us over the first mountain leg, from Criccieth Castle to Maentwrog,
in 1:26:38 |
||
| Richard Adams bravely took on the heat day on leg 4, Maentwrog to Harlech Castle,
in 1:33:44 |
||
| Jane Thornton had a battle with the organisers at well as
the sun, but still arrived ahead of your photographer, on leg 5 from Harlech Castle to Barmouth
(1:36:00) |
||
| Dean Thornton on leg 6 (Barmouth to Dolgellau; 1:16:39)
and Steve Adams (Dolgellau to Dinas Mawddwy; 1:08:30) both also arrived
before the press pack |
||
| With no team support allowed on the dangerous leg 8 (Dinas Mawddwy to
Foel,
1:29:18) Mike Cooke
was thankful for the lower sun. |
||
| Eirian Thornton bravely stepped into the squad at late
notice, running on leg 9 (Foel to Llanfair Caereinion,
1:24:46) |
||
| Greg Ward braved the longest leg of the weekend, running
an extremely hilly half marathon leg 10 (Llanfair Caereinion to Newtown
) in 1:27:23 |
