NewsRun From Bristol To Bath Saturday 31 JanuaryI would just like to say a big thank you to all the runners who turned for this annual event. The days proceedings started at 11am, St James Barton roundabout in the centre of Bristol . About 20 or so people started from here with another smaller group leaving from Fishponds. The main group ran across the bottom of the M32, and joined the start of the cycle track at Lawrence Hill. From here it was slightly uphill through Fishponds, past Shortwood, through Bitton Train Station and a nice run beside the river into Bath and onto the final destination of Bath Train Station. A few people also joined on Bikes, and by continually going from the front to the back of the group, made sure everyone was heading in the right direction. So a big thanks to them. Also like to say thanks to the support cars who took clothes and water for some of the runners to Bath. Once in Bath, after all re-convening at the train station, a change into some warm clothes, a drink and some food, the majority of the group headed off to The Salamander public house for a few non-alcoholic Orange & Passion Fruit J2O’s. I think everyone will agree that it was a really good afternoon of (umm non-alcoholic drinking?!) and fun had by all. As usual Jane and Vanessa provided some entertainment and noise at the pub (anyone who has been to the castles relay will know what I am talking about…and this year its going to be even noisier, so I’m told?!!). We all then stumbled to the train station, where some caught the train and some taxi back to Bristol. When we arrived back in Bristol we went to collect cars and travel to a curry house in Henleaze. Please remember if you are parked facing the wall, outside a police station, it is a good idea to make sure you are in reverse before you try to pull away….Mention no names but you know who you are! Following the curry and a few more drinks, the last stop was on to the Cambridge Arms in Henleaze for a final drink, before heading home. So thanks to every one who came along and made it a memorable day. Jullian Bailey-Gard (The younger)
