Happy New year to you all. May you realise all your running and personal goals this year.

Free Massage Session

At the club supper, West View Clinic will once again be offering taster massage sessions. They’ll be based in the room to the side upstairs.

Run From Bristol To Bath Saturday 31 January

The plan is to meet under the St James Barton Roundabout, Bristol (end of Stokes Croft and behind Debenhams in town) at 11am then run to Bath along the Bristol to Bath Cycle Path.  When we get there we usually go to a local Public House for one or two (maybe more!) drinks and catch the train back to Bristol early evening.

Remember this is an ideal time to start your 2008 training for Half Marathon/Marathon.

Date - Sat 31 January 11am (The 31st Jan is the only weekend in January that does not clash with any Club Championship races).

Route - Through Fishponds, Past Bitton, through Bitton Train Station, follow the river into Bath and finish at Bath Train Station.

Distance - About 16 Miles.

What You Will Need - A small backpack to carry change of clothes (in past years people have taken a tracksuit, t-shirt/thin long sleeved running top), any fluids you might need and any food.  Money for food and drinks/train.  But remember you will have to carry anything you take with you, so only essentials needed.

Also if you don't fancy running/or are injured you could always cycle.  Just a thought.

If you are interested please speak to Jullian Bailey-Gard

Eddy Cawley

A Life Member of Westbury Harriers, Eddy Cawley has passed away at his home in Stamford, Lincolnshire on November 14th, at the age of 89. He was cremated on December 5th at Peterborough.
Eddy joined the club in 1949, and became their very efficient Hon. Secretary in 1952. He successfully combined the roles of Team Manager & selector, also arranging fixture lists, booking the coach and officials for events, and writing match and championship results for the Bristol Evening Post. He would often leave work early to light the coke stoves at the Shields Avenue changing rooms at Filton. At the time he never had a car, and would travel everywhere by bus or train. He was made a Life Member when he stood down in 1960. He remained a bachelor.
More recently he attended our 75th anniversary dinner in 1999 and the 80th in 2004.
We offer our sincere condolences to his next of kin.
