The U17 team matched the U15 gold, but, without
Richard Peters, they needed to fight for every place to overcome Oadby and
Wigston Legionnaires Athletics Club, by 47pts to 53pts.
| Track specialist Ashley Rymer, who is looking
more comfortable on the natural terrain with every race, surprised
himself, as much as the spectators, by pulling through strongly after a
sensible start to lead the team home in 6th place. |

One place behind Ashley, Tom Carpenter showed
how dependable he is, having finished in the top 10 in this event for the
last 4 years. |

Sam Dalgleish went out hard, but suffered towards the end,
finishing in 16th place. This was two places ahead of Harry Webb,
who had made a more measured start, and was galloping by the end. |

The U13 team was a casualty of winter ailments, missing
several regulars, but nevertheless finished 5th with 122 points and, it
turned, just 14 points from the medals. The team was led home by Fraser
Babbage in 5th place, and Adam Kula in 17th |

George Wintle finished 42nd, and Andrew Monyard brought the
team home in 58th place. |
