The U15 Team Won Comfortably, with the B Team Also Well Up
Westbury Harriers U15 boys team packed a massive punch at the Midlands Cross-Country Championship, not only holding on to the team title that they had won last year, but also posting such strength in depth that the outcome would have been the same without their first 3 finishers.

| A persistent cold wind dominated the clear sun, and, while this could not have been described as a 'heavy' course, the winter's mud took its toll throughout the afternoon. Joe Dalgleish led the U15 team home in 2nd place, finishing one place higher than 2 years ago on the same course, when, falling at the start, he had overtaken virtually everyone to finish third ... | ||
| ... this year, Robert Galt suffered a similar fate as Joe, emerging from the start with a badly gashed knee, but, sticking to the task, worked through evenly and strongly to finish 12th. Like the clubs third and fourth men home - Matt Peters and Dan Studley - Robert is still eligible for this age-group next year, making the achievement all the more impressive. | ||
| Dan Studley and Matt Peters stuck together for the whole race, with Matt having the slightly faster finish to place 19th, ahead of Dan's 21st | ||
| The club were not finished yet, however. Dave Burns, running his first race since suffering a bad knee injury, nearly closed down on Dan, to finish 22nd. | ||
| |
Steven Nash ran just ahead of Tom Wintle for much of the
race, finishing 26th and 29th respectively. |
|
| Matt Craythorne brought the team home in 62nd place - this put the 'B' team in 6th overall place overall. | ||

| Having just recovered from a cold, Joe Dalgleish must have been pleased with his afternoon's work, while Dan Studley was picked to take the trophy home! | ||
