Gloucesterhire Cross-Country League, November 2006
Sunshine and autumn colours at their peak formed the backdrop to the 2nd Gloucestershire Cross-Country league race of the winter, at Pittville Park, Cheltenham. This event also hosts the annual 'dying swan' competition.|

surface
As attention turned to the water-jump, John Collier demonstrated the benefit of long legs and a big spring |
| Malcolm White still holds the Yate & District steeplechase record, but takes things a bit more cautiously these days | ||
| Damien, on the other hand, has some promising 'chasing ahead of him, and Matt took the jump easily in his stride. | ||
| Ian provides the first entry in our 'dying swan' competition, as the judges gathered around | ||

Brett's impression was good enough to get him runner-up in the competition, but Will was taking the jump much more sensibly

Fraser and Alex were too robust, and simply ploughed through the stream |
Tom managed to find some lilliputians for his entry, while Martin sneaked by without a ripple |

Jon cleared the stream with this leap, but still has a couple of years to wait before he can do a proper steeplechase. |
Alex, Felix and (below) Lloyd all provided sound competition entries... |

But it was Matt who turn out the competition-winner with this entry |

No, Doug, that's a one-legged seagull, not a dying swan!
