Run for
the Children '3k' Fun Run |
|
'Run for the Children' is a charity organizing children's fun runs around the country, and this year we are hosting a joint promotion which incorporates the promotion of Blaise Castle for the Love Parks week, and the 'Let's Get Active' promotion by the Bristol City Council. The course will be a slightly enlarged version of the Junior Blazer route, and there will be plenty of entertainment after the run. The following is extracted from the 'Run for the Children' web-site: Phew! Climbing walls, a treasure hunt, storytelling, parachute games, circus skills and skateboarding are just a few of the many, many, many activities going on at our Blaise Castle run this year! As part of 'Let's Get Active!', there will be four main themed areas for you to explore after your run; Adrenalin/Urban, Nature/Relaxation, Children/Agility and Sport. With so much choice and talks and walks too, there is sure to be something to please every member of your family, so bring gran and grandad and make it a truly family day out! From mountain biking to massage and with Swifty the Hare, it's all here in one place and you can be a part of it and win your medal! The event will take place on Saturday, 14th June at 11am, Blaise Castle - see the 'Run for the Children' website for further details, or (the following are quite large - you'll need broadband) click here for an entry form, or here for an information poster |

The Junior Blazer is a light-hearted event for boys and girls. It comprises:
There are light refreshments provided while everyone gets a go at the throw! The competition results are decided on a points basis, with younger competitors getting extra points for their age, so everyone competes on an equal basis! The event takes place on Monday, June 30th (note - date changed from that originally advertised) from the Westbury Harriers Clubhouse at Blaise Castle (just next to the main car park and playground). Entries are 50p on the night, from 6:15pm onwards (yes, it is still possible to get an evening's entertainment for under a pound!). The race starts at 7:15pm, but please arrive well before then to register! It is held under UK Athletics Rules, subject to permit. For further information phone phone Phil Court on 01454 613720 This event was originally created in memory of the late Karl Andrews, who was a junior international hammer thrower (9th in the World Junior Championships), as well as a superb runner.
