Club Awards Night at Blaise Castle - May 2005

English Schools 100m champion Ryan Scott, a member of our partner club Yate and District, came along to Blaise on a rather cold (and nearly, but not actually, wet) evening in May to present the club awards.  Ryan, and who lives in Westbury on Trym, declined the offer of a long run before getting down to work.  Many thanks to John Canning for these photos, plus Sandra and Marilyn for a popular barbecue.

"Winners All"

Age-group awards winners included numerous county representatives ... and the odd European champion

The overall 'Best Female Athlete' award went to Catherine Dulla

Steve Powell was the 'Best Newcomer', while Richard Peters was 'Best Male Athlete'.

Westbury Harriers' Womens Team were Gwent League Champions this year

But in the end 'Best Team' went to the U15 National Cross-Country Relay and National Road Relay Champions (Richard Peters, Tom Carpenter, Harry Webb and Joe Dalgleish)

John Collier's ever present smile helped earn him 'Clubman of the Year'

Helloise Barrington was the 'Most Improved Athlete' over the year

With some athletes away running for Avon Schools, the strength in depth still carried the U13 Team to be Gwent League Champions

The Novice Girls Team were also  Gwent League Champions

Ifor Powell returned from his long training run in time to learn that he had won the Committee Shield for his sterling (lit.) work over the year
