Club Awards Night at Blaise Castle

Welsh Indoor 1500m record holder James Thie came along to Blaise on an overcast (but luckily not wet) evening in May to present the club awards.  James, a former Westbury Harrier, enjoyed a run around his old stomping grounds before getting down to work.  Many thanks to John Canning for these photos, plus Marilyn Palmer for a popular barbecue.

"Winners All"

Age-group awards winners included numerous county representatives ... and the odd world champion

The overall 'Best Female' award went to Jenny Binks, while Tom Carpenter took 'Best Male'

'Best Team' was the U15 National Road-Relay Champions (Richard Peters, Tom Carpenter and Sam Dalgleish)

Sandra Bailley-Gard was dragged away from the barbecue to receive the 'service' award, while Marie Drucker-Allister was the 'clubman of the year'

The novice boys were Gloucester League Champions and Gwent League Runners-Up

'Smiler' Harry Webb was best newcomer, while Carla Haslett was most improved over the year

The U13 girls took the bronze  medals in the Gwent Cross-Country League ...

... and the U13 boys matched them

The senior women were Gwent League Division 1 runners up ...

... while the senior men finished third
